Give yourself “The Green Signal “to be surrounded with positivity, to believe in yourself, love unconditionally with gratitude, without vengeance, be prudent and unlock your happiness. Feel the power of love, God and enjoy parenthood. This book is a collection of my memories, experiences, learnings, virtues, wisdom, and positivity in the form of poems. I wish people to relate, resonate, get inspired and motivated to make a difference to their being. Each poem has a thoughtful message, with an aim to spread optimism, with a virtue to embrace.

Born and brought up in Chandigarh, North India, to a family part of the freedom struggle, my growing up years have been in an environment of idealism, pre-independent India stories enriched with values deep rooted within me. I have always been allowed to enjoy freedom and therefore understand and treasure it. Through my journey from a young girl to a married woman to becoming a mother of two, I have only added to my learnings, wisdom – empowering myself, my marriage and my children.

I have lived in South, East and the West of the country as well, currently residing in Mumbai with my husband and two beautiful sons. I am passionate about designing and have been working as an Independent Graphic Designer since 2012.

I loved this book for many reasons:

  • All the poems are well written, thought provoking, and personally, reflective of my ideologies. Some poems felt very personal to me and I connected to them, some poems were outstanding, and a few were average. But the majority of the poems are great and strung a chord in my heart.
  • The pages are designed with flowers, it looks very pretty.
  • At the end of each poem, there were extraordinary quotes attached. Those quotes were given by some famous people and were very valuable.

The theme of these poems mostly deals motherly and fatherly love, motherhood.

The Facet of Moral Character

This poem highlights the corrupted and hypocritical nature of humans. This poem was very relevant.

Ignored Gratitude

In this poem, the poet tries to tell that we are so ignorant to the fact that we should be gratuitous but instead we are all blind to it. We are very lucky to have this life as we have it, but instead we keep complaining for the things we don’t have. I personally connected to this poem because these thoughts also occur to me at time and in those moments I feel deeply gratuitous towards my own life.

A Prudent Mother

In this poem, it is shown how a mother holds a family together. When there is a discontentment in the family, should she choose her husband’s side or her son’s side? Again, I connected to this poem on a deeply personal level.

Everyday Learning

This is an encouraging poem saying us to overcome our fears and shortcomings and go forward in life.

Revenge

I am not fully sure what this poem is about but the gist of this poem is revenge is harmful and not worthy.

In short, I had the best time reading this book. I would highly recommend this book!

Happiness Unlocked

This poem is basically telling us to be happy! I loved the following lines from this poem:

Your mind is a garden,
Your thoughts are the seeds,
Happiness is the flower,
Worry and expectations are the weeds.

Negativity is contagious

This poem is about people (like me) who always focus on the negatives than the positives. This negativity can obstruct our thinking and stop us from going further.

Believing In Yourself

In this poem, an example of a woman/mother is given, where all the bad things happened to her are put in a positive light. Like when her teachers berated her that was for her improvement etc. In these ways she became stronger and self sufficient. After all, we all learn from bad experiences and these lessons that we learn make us a better person.

When My Father Was Alive

This. Poem. Got. Me.
I was speechless how sad this poem made me. The name of the poem is enough to tell you what’s it about.

Motherhood

This poem was not a favourite, maybe because I am not a mother. (Does being a cat-mom counts?) But mostly I was confused between X and Y, and I think the mother was trying to maintain a balance between her sons.

It Is Love That Keeps You Going

The mutual respect expanded manifolds,
Nevertheless the arguments never stopped.

This poem describes a healthy and realistic relationship where there are arguments between them, there are problems, but they stay together despite everything. This is the power of love.

The Power of Love

A sweet poem about how everything feels nicer when one is in love with the right person.

A Myth or A Fact

It’s about a woman who never realized she had all these good qualities in her before she became a mother. Qualities like perseverance, being competent and combating with emotional stress. It’s like she got rebirth after the birth of her child.

Love Unconditional

It weakens,
When you are not loved back,
Detoriates
When one is not treated equal.

Love Unconditional

It weakens,

When one person does whatever the other person says, even if the person is not being treated right, how will this unconditional love persist? Because when one person is not treated right, the relationship falls apart. Love can only grow if our love is treated with love in return along with respect. But maybe that’s what unconditional love is – to love in all circumstances despite the way we’re treated.

A Peerless Man

This poem describes the beautiful relationship between a father and a daughter.

(and my favourite poems are)

Sorry

This poem was amazing. People fight but doesn’t apologize because of their ego and expect the other person to apologize. This harms the relationship. Had they apologized first, not caring for their ego, their relationship would’ve grown instead of damaging.

My God

This poem is gold. This is the best and my favourite poem from the collection. The poet is saying that she don’t need no God when she got herself. She is so strong herself, why need God? She believes in herself and she will overcome everything.

My God is my strength,
To overcome my ordeals,
For that he does not want me to starve.

My God is my ambition,
Which keeps me going to achieve things I dream of
For that, I need not chant his prayer
.

Girl, you go. You slay! I loved this poem so much.

My rating : 4.5 stars out of 5.
